*slaughtering: the installation is an array of acoustically responsive spheres activated by sound and touch. human interaction triggers an ascendance of vision, light and sound in a cyclic loop of which the individual is integral. the project explores the notion of psychoacoustics and acousmatics applied in an architectural space. the sonic and radiant atmosphere inhabits and alters one's perception of the former empress coach house space.

*slaughtering: as part of the london design festival, antwerp-based graphic designer paul boudens presented a large-scale installation at the wapping project. the piece was produced in collaboration with designer bob verhelst. the installation was on display from 3rd september until 3rd october 2010. a bit late on the upload of this post but it was a definite must see. paul boudens achieved to invent and construct an evocative journey through his exhibition, were the designs become your boundaries. bold, colourful, current and enigmatic.

*slaughtering: rousse’s work, from the 1990s to today, appears to be photos of desolate or abandoned spaces, on which the artist has superimposed precise geometrical shapes or graffiti.

this type of work is referred to as anamorphic art. It changes but is only viewable in its intended focus from one precise viewpoint. The projects involve not only painting, but often construction of major proportion! curved walls, angles of light all play into the finished project.

"when you ask a person to jump, his attention is mostly directed toward the act of jumping, and the mask falls, so that the real person appears", said philippe halsman.

“there is a sublime silliness to halsman’s images that can make you laugh or at least smile regardless of how often you see them. they may offer incontrovertible proof of schiller’s claim that ‘all art is dedicated to joy.’ evidently the simple act of getting off the ground requires giving in to something like joy. you have to let go.

“one of the purest examples of this joy is an image of halsman himself, holding hands with a smiling marilyn monroe several feet off the ground. facing his partner, he seems ecstatic, as if he cannot believe his luck.”

“audrey hepburn, shot in a hedged garden, goes aloft with legs apart in an enthusiastic cheerleader manner that seems to fit her tightly wound, perfect-girl persona.”

“the most famous of these images, “dalí atomicus,” shows the madcap Dalí aloft, brush and palette in hand. he is flanked by a chair and two easels (holding dalí canvases) — all elevated, and seemingly floating, above the floor, which heightens the sense of suspension.

but the main event is the great curve of water arcing across the image, along with three flying (or flung) cats in damp, disconcerted disarray. for once dalí’s characteristic look of exaggerated surprise makes sense.”

*slaughtering: outstanding, sensitive and elegant. accompanied by the amazing music composition of bengt hanssen ,as well as the breathtaking narrative voiceover, 'time away' seduced us. it is such a pleasure to witness this relatively new way of viewing fashion. not too long ago fashion film genre was barely on the radar. today it is booming and shorts like the one that matias rygh & mathias eriksen shot are making this innovative way of 'selling' high-street brands a worth admiring form of expression.

pedrag pajdic curates an exhibition comprising of 40 international artists hunting for alternative ways of expression during the economic crisis. the exhibition in named lingering whispers will be held between 07 may and 06 june 2010 at the crypt of st pancras church in london.lingering whispers participants want to prove that art is always the best antidote to any kind of crisis and despair. art and fashion, stage and catwalk, conscious and subconscious will merge into one and some promising contemporary artists, poets, performers, fashion designers and photographers will unite to celebrate imagination and eliminate pigeonholes of convention.
